The Groton Township Firefighters Association will be once again conducting its annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on April 10th, 2021 from 4:30pm - 7:00pm at Station 1 located at 9414 Portland Road, Castalia, Ohio. Cost is "Donation". This will be a "DRIVE THRU" only event this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. We are also introducing an OPTIONAL QR code to RSVP your dinner this year (see QR on side pane). Excited to see everyone and as always, "Thank you" for your continued to support over the years.
Read more>>The department now has 2 new Lucas automated CPR Chest Compression solutions for both Stations. In addition, a new LifePak 15 which is an advanced tool that contains AED, checks patients vital signs, checks for CO poisioning as well as other life saving features. These are invaluable tools to provide better care for our residents. This equipment was purchased using CARES funding (no local funding) by both Townships. We wish to "Thank" both Groton and Oxford Township Trustees for their continued support.
Read more>>We would like to congradulate Chris Acierto on his promotion to Lieutenant. Chris is assigned to Station 2/Oxford Township and has been very active in the department. He has attended various trainings outside the department to include Ice Rescue and courses put on by State Fire Marshalls office. Chirs and his wife and two daughters live in Oxford Township.
Read more>>Unfortunately with the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, Groton Township Fire Department will be cancelling the 2020 Halloween Happenings/Truck & Treat event. In addtion, we will have to cancel the pancake breakfast fundraiser this year as well. We share with everyones dissapointment but we need to cancel these events to keep everyone safe. We look forward to seeing everyone next year. Thanks for your understanding and continued support.

Read more>>Groton Township does respond with North Central EMS for all EMS calls in Groton Township. Please note, we are taking extra precautions as outlined by our updated EMS protocols thru NWOEMS and St. Vincent Hospital. These precautions may include seeing responders wearing mask, eye protection and gowns above and beyond our normal PPE of gloves.

We are accepting applications for prospective Firefighters to join the department. Read more>>With the current COVID-19 events, our scheduled hands-on training of removing a firefighter from a basement has been rescheduled. We conducted a inhouse online training course and quiz to support our scheduled Rapid Intervention Training. We then conducted a video conference with members that participated to review and discuss training and quiz. We are finding creative solution to support our members just as many schools are doing now to support students and parents.
