  • EMS Responses

    Groton Township does respond with North Central EMS for all EMS calls in Groton Township. Please note, we are taking extra precautions as outlined by our updated EMS protocols thru NWOEMS and St. Vincent Hospital. These precautions may include seeing responders wearing mask, eye protection and gowns above and beyond our normal PPE of gloves.

    Groton Township wishes to welcome Mike Burik and Jered Swartz to the our team. Groton Township Fire Department is always looking for dedicated people that want to make a difference in the community. We are accepting applications for prospective Firefighters to join the department. Training is covered by the department and you get to be part of a team of good people that strive to make a difference. Once again, welcome Mike and Jared.

  • On-Line Training

    With the current COVID-19 events, our scheduled hands-on training of removing a firefighter from a basement has been rescheduled. We conducted a inhouse online training course and quiz to support our scheduled Rapid Intervention Training. We then conducted a video conference with members that participated to review and discuss training and quiz. We are finding creative solution to support our members just as many schools are doing now to support students and parents.

  • Departmental Training

    Groton Township Firefighters have had a busy couple months of training. We were doing roof ventilation on March 17th, 2020. Prior to that, a number of members attended State of Ohio Fire Marshall Fire Blast Lab that replicated live Kitchen Fire, Room Fire and Basement fire conditions. We wish to thank Gibsonburg Fire Department for hosting and the invitation. We also this month were conducting water flow scenarios. In late February, we were conducting Rapid Intervention training exercises. We are taking a break from hands on training until the COVID 19 event passes but are using alternative methods to obtain training.
